Karan Johar has a lot to say, and people often wait to hear him speak out. On the latest podcast of #NoFilterNeha, the director seemed to relax and open up on a number of topics, particularly his recently rejuvenated friendship with Kajol. The director seemed to regret that he did not 'hold things to myself' and reacted on impulse which led to the breaking down of relations between the two close friends. Dhupia's show was also the final episode of the second season of the popular podcast, #NoFilterNeha.
Speaking on the podcast, Johar said, "I do feel that I did speak about many many things, and I said many many things. But now that I look back, I feel that a lot of things I had said about our relationship, I had perhaps reacted on impulse. Now, I look back and maybe, I should have kept it to myself. "
However, the director added, "I think certain relationships are so sacred that when you hurt from them and are in a lot of pain, you should hold on to them and keep them to yourself."
Johar also credited the birth of his children as the key element in this change. He said, "Children really changed that. It was a switch in me that just changed automatically," before adding, "I don't have any issues with people normally. She's the only person there has been such a discord with. She's too special for me not to have reached out to share the most special moment of my life." The director added that all is well between the two now, saying, "The relatinoship is too strong for both of us not to have a 2.0 version of it."
The fallout happened when Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Ajay Devgn's Shivaay clashed at the box office last year. It resulted in some public spats between Johar and Devgn, and eventually Kajol. However, the director confessed that he messaged his Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actress first on the birth of his children.
He said, "When the babies were born, I sent a message to Kajol first. I sent her a message saying that you don’t have to reply to this message but I really don’t want you to be seeing these babies in a newspaper or online. I want you to see what they look like and you don’t need to reply but I woke up with a dream and I woke up with a heavy heart and I just felt the need to send you the images of my children. And she replied instantly saying they look gorgeous and I hope they give you all the love that my children have given me." The director later patched up with the actress on her birthday last year.
Talking about his children, Johar gushed that they had brought a lot of happiness into his life. At one point, the director even feared that the happiness will be followed by some big sorrow. He said, "I am seeing so many happy days that I am scared."
Considering the grwoing curiousity about the children's public appearance, the director disclosed that there is a plan in place. He said, "Kareena and I have decided it’s Taimur’s birthday party. He is two months older than them. Taimur was born in December. So his birthday party is where Yash and Roohi will make their debut appearance. Watch out Instagram! Because these three cuties are going to break the internet. I can’t wait for that photograph."
Apart from these, the director also spoke about his embarrassing experience when he was denied an autograph by the great Woody Allen. He laughed saying, "I was so embarrassed that I staged a walkout from the airport lounge."
It was inevitable that Dhupia would turn to question Johar on the topic of the season — nepotism. However, Johar seems to have grown tired of the issue. He answered saying, "Of course it exists." However, he also added to those digging up the issue, "If you have a problem with it, apologies. If you accept it, welcome to the club."
Despite this admission, Johar also shed light on his growing talent factory at Dharma Productions which includes Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, and now Jhanvi Kapoor. He admitted he takes a personal interest in the public and personal profiles of his proteges. He said, "From their social media presence to what they wear at an event, and how they are projected at the event, I take the onus of it because it is a huge deal. Sid, Varun and Alia are in touch with me 24/7 every day. They are organically a part of the ecosystem at Dharma Productions."
Johar also admitted that there are a few youngsters who will be launched, apart from Kapoor, in the upcoming year under Dharma Productions.
In all, it seemed like an entertaining talk to end Dhupia's second season for NoFilterNeha.
