After violent protests, political fights, and a long battle against time, the trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati was released on Monday, 9 October. True to its maker, the trailer offered a glimpse of the grand scale on which Bhansali's epic is constructed.
Needless to say, immediately after its release, the trailer ruffled the cyberspace. Soon, fans and filmmakers were singing praises on social media about the trailer, and the performances in it. Ranveer Singh's demonic aura as Alauddin Khilji and Deepika Padukone's Rani Padmavati had caught the attention of most fans. There was also the regal presence of Shahid Kapoor through the trailer.
From Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, to Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana, the film industry came together in showering praises on the film. Even Baahubali director SS Rajamouli praised the trailer calling it "Insanely beautiful". The director singled out Ranveer Singh and said, 'can't take my eyes off him'.
Singh was, naturally, overwhelmed by the praise flowing in on social media. The actor was reportedly doing an Instagram chat with his fans when he got teary-eyed about the reactions, and had to take a minute to compose himself. He later penned down an emotional post thanking fans for supporting the film.
In the note, Singh thanked his fans "from the bottom of my heart", and wrote, "It is a result of blood, sweat and tears that our team has poured in this mammoth effort. Sanjay sir, my crazy genius, the master craftsman… has fought, suffered and sacrificed for this film – the success of this trailer is a testament to his sheer tenacity and iron will. What you’re seeing is the vision of a deeply passionate artist who has bared his infinite soul on celluloid."
The actor added that he is "still shooting the movie (just the last few days left now) so unfortunately I am not able to reply to each one of you folks individually, like I usually do. But it's so very heartening to read everything you all have said."
The film's Padmavati, Deepika Padukone, also tweeted her thanks through her Twitter handle. Padukone wrote, "And as this day comes to an end, I cannot even begin to express the gratitude and joy I feel today!"
Padmavati is set to be released on 1 December.
