While rumours of Mahira Khan and Ranbir Kapoor dating each other gained momentum when the duo were snapped smoking together in New York, Khan was slammed on the social media for not only her revealing attire but also for the fact that she was smoking. The Pakistani actress had earlier defended herself saying it is "very normal for a girl and a guy to hang out."
However, in a recent interview with a Pakistani magazine, Khan has apologized to anyone who was truly offended, but not to those who trolled her.

“I understand where all the criticism came from and it didn’t come from a place of hate. I’m not talking about the trolls but those who were genuinely disappointed to see those pictures. It’s the same disappointment that my nani (granny) or my mamoo (uncle) would have felt seeing that. So even now when I meet an older lady who says that she didn’t like the pictures, I’m quick to apologize,” said Khan in an interview with a Pakistani magazine Something Haute.

“People ask me if I’m a good role model for my fans, and my response to that is that yes, I am a good role model but I’m not the perfect role model. I am human, I make mistakes. And I was really happy to see that there were so many people who stood up for me. It goes to show that the narrative in Pakistan is changing, and if nothing else, I’m happy to have been part of that narrative,” said Khan,
One of the bigger stars in the Pakistani entertainment space, Khan made her Hindi film debut with Shah Rukh Khan in Raees this year. While she shot the film in India, Khan couldn’t come for the promotions owing to the sour political relations between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of the Uri terror attack.
