Debutant director Abhay Chopra’s Ittefaq had an average first Monday. The film, which stars Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna, collected Rs2 crore yesterday.
After opening at Rs3.80 crore on Friday, Ittefaq earned Rs5.25 crore and Rs6 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, taking its first weekend collection to Rs15.05 crore. The film is reportedly made at a budget of around Rs22 crore.
With only Rs17.05 crore in its kitty right now from the Indian box office, it needs to earn consistently in the weekdays. It will be quite challenging for the film to get a good number of shows in the second week.
On the other hand, Hollywood film Thor: Ragnarok had a good Monday as it amassed Rs4.25 crore. Its India total currently stands at Rs31.75 crore.
Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Again had a steady hold on its numbers on its third Monday. The film, starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Parineeti Chopra, made around Rs1.25 crore yesterday. The film has so far made Rs194.40 crore. Trade analysts suggest that the film is heading towards the Rs200-crore mark. The film is already well on its way to become the highest Diwali grosser in recent years.
Shetty’s highest grosser has been Chennai Express (2013), starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. It made Rs208 crore in India.
