Box office: Average collection for Ittefaq; Thor: Ragnarok emerges successful

The film, starring Akshaye Khanna, Sonakshi Sinha and Sidharth Malhotra, has collected Rs15.05 crore nett in the first three days.

Director Abhay Chopra’s Ittefaq has managed average box-office collections in India in the first weekend. The film, starring Akshaye Khanna, Sonakshi Sinha and Sidharth Malhotra, has earned Rs15.05 crore nett in the first three days after it wasreleased on 3 November. 

Ittefaq opened at Rs3.80 crore on Friday. The film took a jump in the next two days, earning Rs5.25 crore and Rs6 crore, respectively, on Saturday and Sunday. The jump, however, wasn’t substantial.

Ittefaq has reportedly been made at an estimated cost of Rs22 crore. A large chunk of the film’s business has come from Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru. It hasn’t performed as well in Delhi and the National Capital Region, which has affected its overall numbers.

The film is the official remake of Yash Chopra’s successful film Ittefaq (1969), which starred Rajesh Khanna, Nanda and Sujit Kumar. The new Ittefaq is a joint venture between Dharma Productions, Red Chillies and BR Films. 

Hollywood film Thor: Ragnarok, which was released alongside Ittefaq, has been quite successful at the Indian box office. The film opened at an impressive Rs7.75 crore on Friday. It continued its good run on the next two days by making Rs9.25 crore and Rs10.50 crore, respectively.

The film’s grand total now stands at Rs27.50 crore.
