Ittefaq collects Rs3.75 crore on first day, Golmaal Again inches towards Rs200 crore

The favourable reviews for Abhay Chopra's reprisal of Ittefaq seem to have worked. The Sonakshi Sinha-Sidharth Malhotra thriller managed to collect Rs3.75 crore on Friday, according to BoxOfficeIndia.com. The website also speculated that the film will manage to add another Rs3 crore nett to its collection on Saturday.
However, Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Again continues to run strong after Rs2 crore nett on its third Friday at the box office. Golmaal Again was released across 3,500 screens in India and is made at an estimated budget of Rs130 crore.
The Ajay Devgn-led ensemble comedy has added Rs2 crore to its current nett collection of Rs181.50 crore. This puts the total nett earnings of Shetty's film at Rs 183.50 crore. Trade analysts suggest that the film is heading towards the Rs200-crore mark. The film is already well on its way to become the highest Diwali grosser in recent years.
The other big film in its third week, Secret Superstar, managed only a marginal collection of Rs80-85 lakh nett. This puts the film's overall earnings at Rs56 crore nett till date. It has released across 1,600 screens in India. Secret Superstar is made at an estimated budget of Rs24 crore (excluding Aamir Khan’s fees).
Meanwhile, Ittefaq is expected to have a similar collection on Saturday as on Friday. The film managed Rs3.75 crore on its first day at the box office. However, the trend of a 30-35% collection on the second day will see it only rise marginally. This will put the collections of the film alongside Sidharth Malhotra's A Gentleman, which went on to earn Rs16.75 crore nett in its first week at the box office.
Ittefaq has been released across 1,100 screens, while A Gentleman had 1,900 screens at its disposal.
