Priyanka Chopra to sing for her Bengali home production Brishtir Opekkh?

After singing songs in languages such as Hindi, English, Marathi and Tamil, Priyanka Chopra is now set to lend her voice to a Bengali song. 

Chopra, who has produced several regional films under her banner Purple Pebble Pictures in the last couple of years, is now making a foray into Bengali cinema with Brishtir Opekkhaye (Waiting For The Rains), starring Rituparna Sengupta, Rahul Bose and Parno Mittra. Directed by Bibhash Mukherjee, Brishtir Opekkh is based on Sirshendu Mukhopadhyay's famous story, Bus Stop-e Keu Nei (There's No One At The Bus Stop). 

Buzz is that Chopra will be doing playback for Sengupta in the film. According to sources, the film's music director Riju Roy will record with the Exotic singer during her next trip to India, which will be in a couple of weeks time.

While speaking to Bengali publication, Sangbad Pratidin, Sengupta said that even she had heard that Chopra will be singing for the film, but she doesn't know for sure yet. "I have heard about Priyanka doing the playback, if that happens, it'd be really great," said Sengupta. "Working in a film produced by such a successful Bollywood (Hindi film industry) actor is prestigious enough for me. I have been discussing this film with director Bibhash Mukhopadhay for quite some time. I am very excited because it's a fantastic script," she says.

While Chopra's mother Madhu can understand and speak some Bengali, the actress herself is unfamiliar with the language. 

In 2016, Chopra had also sung the song Baba (dedicated to her father) for her Marathi production, Ventilator, which went on to win her a lot of praise.
