The magic of Fukrey Returns revolves around the chemistry between the quartet of Hunny, Choocha, Lalli, and Zafar. Of these, the friendship and camaraderie between Hunny (Pulkit Samrat) and Choocha (Varun Sharma) remains the most entertaining. In the latest song from the film, 'Tu Mera Bhai Nahi Hai', the two capture the unspoken 'bhai-code' that every dude lives by.
Sung by Gandhharv Sachdeav, with an additional rap by Raftaar, the song is a funky track to groove to. Embellished with a very indigenous Punjabi dance music background, it manages to capture the freewheeling, fun, relationship between Hunny and Choocha. From sharing underwear, to stealing girlfriends, and even pilfering their dad's alcohol, the duo are a part of every mischief guys undertake.
While every act causes a dent in the friendship, the simple question 'Tu Mera Bhai Nahi Hai?' (Are you not my brother?) can solve everything. Samrat and Sharma look in fine form in the song, and bring the pizzazz and comic element it requires.
Raftaar's rap adds energy and attitude where required, and raises it up a notch. The composition by Sumeet Bellary is refreshing, with a good amounts of funk and Punjabi pop thrown in. By all measures, this one is worth listening to.
Fukrey Returns is directed by Mrigdeep Singh Lamba, and is set to be released on 8 December.
