Deepika Padukone has stood tall amidst threats for portraying Padmavati in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversial film. But the actress could not maintain the steadfast composure when Shah Rukh Khan read out a letter from her mother in a recent chat show. The videos that appeared on social media certainly capture the emotional moment for the actress.
Khan hosted the session for Filmfare magazine, and read out several letters from fellow actors, friends, and colleagues for Deepika. While the actress basked in the praise all the while, the emotional letter from Padukone's mother, Ujjala, left her a teary mess.
As Shah Rukh reads the letter aloud, Deepika can be seen sobbing into her hands. Lightening the moment, Shah Rukh stepped up to cheer his Om Shanti Om (2007) actress.
Shah Rukh was not the only sweet actor to put a smile on Deepika's face. The actress could be seen gushing as her Piku (2014) co-star, Irrfan Khan, in a video, spoke about the 'child' within her.
"As a human being, you sometimes feel Deepika Padukone has this little child within her, who keeps staring at this huge star that she is," Irrfan said, "She stares with a sense of wonder at Deepika Padukone, this confidence, this star."
The National Award winning actor went on to say that this sense of innocence is a matter of pride for Deepika. "It is a beautiful thing that Deepika has kept this child within her alive," he added.
The chat show even had a couple of entertaining moments, one of which was a game of dumb charades between Shah Rukh and Deepika. Trying to play Madhuri Dixit, the actress tried to pull off the famous dance move from 'Hara Rang Daala' song from Devdas (2002), entertaining Shah Rukh to the fullest.
The actress will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming Padmavati. The controversial film has currently been delayed on account of the protests against it across the country.
