Priyanka Chopra's global domination notwithstanding, the actress will see one of her dearest wishes fulfilled, as she will be conferred an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Bareilly.

Chopra, who finished her high schooling in the United States and India before winning the Miss World in 2000, never really managed to pursue education. The cause has remained a key part of the actress' life, and is the reason behind her NGO, Priyanka Chopra Foundation for Health and Education, which focusses on the education of girls across the world.

The actress is also UNICEF Global Goodwill Ambassador and has worked towards helping children across the world acquire equal education.

Chopra also belongs to a family of doctors, her mother and late father have been medical physicians.

In the interview with the monthly magazine Marie Claire earlier in 2017, Chopra had said that it had been one of her wishes to go back to college and get her graduate degree. On being asked what she would have been, if not an actress, Chopra said, "I would've been an engineer at NASA. I wanted to be an aeronautical engineer." Others might think it a little late for the actress, however, the actress was in no mood to admit that. She said, "No, it's not at all too late. It is something I definitely want to do. Not the NASA thing, but definitely pursue some sort of a degree."

It was also the reason why she believed so firmly in the cause of education. "The investment into our women, and into our girl children is so important because that's the future tomorrow," the actress had said in the interview.

While Chopra had initially declined the offer by the university, reports suggest she has decided to accept it when the offer came by again.
