S Aishwarya, great-granddaughter of legendary singer MS Subbulakshmi, has sung her first Tamil film song.

The young singer has sung a song for the forthcoming film Kural 146.

Interestingly, Kural 146 is the feature film version of the short film Esha, which won honours at the Delhi Short Film Festival and the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival.

Directed by Umashankar, the film, which features five songs in all, has music by Guru Kalyan, who made an impression with Maathi Yosi (2010).

A source in the film's unit said, "Work on the film has started with the recording of the first song. The song was chosen from among Siddhar Pattinathar's works. It was recorded yesterday. The song was rendered by Aishwarya and the film's music director Guru Kalyan. Stringed instruments form the base of the track, 'Annai Yethanai Yethanaiyoo'."

The film will go on the floors soon. Christopher Joseph, who was the cinematographer for the short film, has been roped in as cinematographer for the feature film as well.
