A copyright infringement case has been registered against producer Rajesh, actress Nayanthara, and director Gopi Nainar, of the recently released Tamil hit Aramm, with the Madras High Court.
Aramm review: Exceptional performances lift this film that captures social evils of bureaucracy
Aramm narrates the story of a district collector spearheading efforts to rescue a small child trapped in a borewell.
Vishnu Movie Makers (VMM) has filed a complaint alleging that the story of Aramm has been copied from their Kannada film, Parivara.
VMM has claimed that they had produced the Kannada film in 2013 and even got the censor certificate for a release. However, the film was not released owing to financial problems. Further, they have alleged that director Gopi Nainar had watched the film at a preview, organized for distributors and friends.
The complaint seeks a stay on the release of Aramm in Karnataka and demands a Rs2 crore compensation from its makers.
The news comes only a few days after the producers of Aramm announced a sequel. In fact, sources in the industry suggest that the team have already begun work on the sequel.
