While the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is yet to take a call on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's much talked about film, Padmavati, the British board seems to have no such qualms. The mirror institution in England, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has cleared Bhansali's film with no cuts.
The BBFC website was updated with the details on the film, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh. In its notification, the board states, 'All known versions of this work passed uncut.'
The film has also received a 12A rating, which allows it to be viewed by children of and above 12 years of age. The board has also marked the film as containing 'moderate violence, injury detail'.
The notice also marks Padmavati as being 164 minutes long, which is about 2 hours 44 minutes. However, earlier reports had suggested that the film had a runtime of 3 hours.
Unlike the British board, the CBFC is yet to take up the film for certification. The delay in the certification process is being cited as the major reason for the postponement of its release.
At the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, CBFC chairman, Prasoon Joshi said, "We need to understand that the CBFC must take a balanced decision. This situation was not created by the CBFC. It had nothing to do with the protests on the roads. You show the film to media houses and get reviews done but you want CBFC to deliver a fair and well-thought out decision?"
Padmavati was set to be released on 1 December in India, but has now been postponed indefinitely. According to the BBFC website, the film will be internationally released on 1 December.
