IFFI 2017: Katrina Kaif to be special guest at the closing ceremony


This will be the Tiger Zinda Hai actress's first visit to an edition of India's biggest film festival.

Actress Katrina Kaif will be the special guest at the closing ceremony of the 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on 28 November.

Kaif is gearing up for her next film, Tiger Zinda Hai, which is scheduled to be released on 22 December. The film sees her cast again with Salman Khan. The actress is currently busy promoting the film and attending to other brand commitments. But she will take time out to attend the festival.

This will be Katrina Kaif’s first visit to an edition of IFFI. “I look forward to being part of IFFI 2017," the actress said in an official statement. "This year is special because it will be my first visit there. I am happy to be part of Asia’s oldest festival as it celebrates the future of cinema."

The festival was inaugurated yesterday by Hindi film star Shah Rukh Khan. His speech on India as the land of stories was one of the highlights of the event. Celebrated Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi also made an appearance at the ceremony.

Other prominent names from the industry to attend the festival's opening day included Anupam Kher, Subhash Ghai, Nana Patekar, and Sridevi with her husband Boney Kapoor and soon-to-be-launched daughter Jhanvi.
