The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has returned the application to certify director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati citing that the film is incomplete, reported IANS. The film, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, was sent for certification earlier this week on 16 November.
This has prompted a number of unconfirmed reports about the release date of the film likely to be postponed. However, Ajit Andhare, COO of Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, the producers of Padmavati, has rubbished all such claims. He said on his Twitter page last evening, “Rumours of postponement of Padmavati are baseless @FilmPadmavati.”
The controversies surrounding the film took a violent turn this week. A couple of days ago, a fringe outfit threatened to physically harm actress Deepika Padukone, while another offered prize money of Rs5 crore to anyone who beheads director Bhansali. However, despite such open threats, there have been no arrests so far.

Meanwhile, senior journalists and television hosts Arnab Goswami and Rajat Sharma saw Padmavati yesterday. Both of them have stated that the film doesn’t have a single objectionable sequence. They specifically stated that there is no dream sequence between the characters of Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, something which the Rajput groups have been accusing the makers of.
