Dhadak director Shashank Khaitan has rubbished reports that senior actress Sridevi would be playing on-screen mother to her real life daughter Janhvi Kapoor in the film.
Deccan Chronicle had quoted a source as saying, “The role of the girl’s mother in this film is brief but very important. And the woman must look graceful, dignified and be able to express her love for her rebellious daughter and be able to stand up for her against the father, who is vehemently opposed to her daughter marrying a boy from a socio-economically backward section. Srideviji will add a completely new dimension to the plot.”
However, the news has turned out to be false. When Cinestaan.com contacted director Shashank Khaitan, he laughed it off.
“I can assure you that Sridevi ji has no role whatsoever in the film. I don't know how such story crop up,” Khaitan told Cinestaan.com.
A remake of Nagraj Manjule’s 2016 hit Marathi film Sairat, Dhadak marks the debut of Janhvi. The film will go on floors from 1 December and is slated to be released next year.
Janhvi and Ishan Khattar were the toast of social media as Dharma Productions unveiled the title of their film. The posters featuring Janhvi and Khattar received positive feedback on social media.
