Ajji, Mukkabaaz, Village Rockstars among 5 Indian films chosen for Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia

The Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn, Estonia has chosen five Indian films to showcase in its programming. Devashish Makhija’s Ajji, Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz (The Brawler), Rima Das’s Village Rockstars, Kabir Mehta’s Buddha.mov and Siddhartha Jatla’s Love and Shukla will be shown at the northern European festival being held from 17 November to 3 December.
Only Makhija’s Ajji is part of the official selection. Love and Shukla and Village Rockstars will be shown in their Forum section which showcases strong auteur films that represent original standpoints.
Meanwhile, Mukkabaaz (The Brawler) is screening in the Panorama section alongside films like Sally Porter's The Party, Annemarie Jacir's Wajib, Sean Baker's The Florida Project and Michael Haneke's The Happy End. The widely panned American film, Basmati Blues (2017), starring Oscar winner Brie Larson, is also a part of the Panorama section.
Lastly, Kabir Mehta, protégée of director Ashim Ahluwalia, will present Buddha.mov in the First Feature competition.
Black Nights Film Festival has 233 films in its line-up from 70 different countries including India.
