The minister for drinking water and sanitation has also given a message to the CBFC before they clear the film.

Uma Bharti, cabinet minister of drinking water and sanitation, has once again spoken out over the unending controversy surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati. In a series of tweets, she has spoken about actors of the film being unnecessarily targeted.
A lot has been said against Deepika Padukone by the protestors, both on the streets and social media. Bharti specifically spoke against this. “If we are talking about the respect of #Padmavati, then it is our moral obligation that we respect every woman. Disrespect of the actress or actor of #Padmavati is uncalled for and immoral,” she said in a series of tweets.

Disrespect of the actress or actor of #Padmavati is uncalled for and immoral.
She believes that the director and writer of the film should be held accountable for any alleged distortion of facts. “The director and his associate as the scriptwriter of #Padmavati are responsible for its story. They should have taken care of the sentiments and the historical facts. I appeal to the artists who have acted in the film to not become a party. Its story is the responsibility of director & scriptwriter #Padmavati,” she added.

While asking the CBFC to take note of the protests, she added, “I have been assured that Censor Board will take care of all the issues being raised. I am confident that they are already informed about the concerns being raised by the people. Film Censor Board is an independent organisation. We expect that the film will be cleared taking the sentiments of people into consideration.”

Film Censor Board is an independent organisation. We expect that the film will be cleared taking the sentiments of people into consideration.
Padmavati has been facing flak from some Rajput, Brahmin and Hindu groups. Off late, Bhansali has also come under attack from members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for ‘distorting’ history without even watching the film.
Starring Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, Padmavati is scheduled to be released on 1 December.
