Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth win NTR Awards


The state government, on Tuesday, 14 November, announced the award winners for the NTR, BN Reddy, Nagi Reddy-Chakrapani (all national) and Raghupathi Venkaiah film awards.

The NTR National Award is an annual honorary Nandi Award, organized in the honour of film actor, director, producer, and politician NT Rama Rao, who also served as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. The annual award function was stalled for three years from 2014 due to the bifurcation of the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The state government, on Tuesday, 14 November, announced the award winners for the NTR, BN Reddy, Nagi Reddy-Chakrapani (all national) and Raghupathi Venkaiah film awards, in 64 categories for 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Committee members Balakrishna, Murali Mohan, Giri Babu, Jeevitha and others announced the awards in upcoming capital Amaravati, which the Andhra Pradesh government plans to develop as the new hub of the Telugu film industry.

Veteran actors Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and film director K Raghvendra Rao have bagged the NTR National Film Awards for 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Directors SS Rajamouli, Trivikram Srinivas and Boyapati Srinivas have won the BN Reddy Award.

The Nagi Reddy-Chakrapani award has been conferred to filmmakers R Narayana Murthy, MM Keeravani and KS Rama Rao.

Krishnam Raju, Eshwar and Chiranjeevi will receive the Raghupathi Venkaiah awards for Lifetime Achievement and their contribution to the Telugu film industry.

The Nandi awards for Best Actor is won by N Balakrishna for Legend (2014), Mahesh Babu for Srimanthudu (2015) and Junior NTR for Nannaku Prematho (2016) and Janatha Garage (2016).

The Best Actress awards are bagged by Anjali for Geetanjali (2014), Anushka Shetty for Rudhramadevi (2015) and Ritu Varma for Pelli Chupulu (2016).

Films Legend, Baahubali and Pelli Choopulu have been adjudged as Best Films for 2014, 2015 and 2016, respectively.

Naga Chaitanya won the award in the Best Supporting Actor category for Manam (2014), while Allu Arjun won under the Best Character Actor category for Rudhramadevi (2015).

Ramya Krishnan has won the Best Supporting Actress award, and Rana Daggubati has won the Best Villain Award, both for their characters in the Baahubali series.
