Deepika Padukone might be under siege with her comments on Padmavati earning her ire from some very petty corners, however, Hema Malini's words might offer her an encouragement. Padukone shared a picture of her copy of Hema Malini's biography, Beyond the Dream Girl, with a handwritten note by the 'Dream Girl' herself.

Padukone launched Malini's book in Mumbai last month.

Nothing can stop release of Padmavati, says Deepika Padukone

The note reads, 'The contents of this book that you so graciously launched take on an added meaning as I hand over the baton to you for a glorious continuation of artistic excellence.'

While Malini's career has been written into the history of Indian cinema, Padukone is on her way to recreate the history herself.

Padmavati song: Deepika and Shahid impress with their silent romance in ‘Ek Dil Ek Jaan’ song

The young actress, who played Mastani in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani (2015), has teamed up with the director to play the legendary queen, Padmavati, in the upcoming film with the same name. It is no surprise that the veteran actress chose to 'hand over the baton' to Padukone during the launch of the biography.

While the film is beset by numerous political attacks, these words by the 'Dream Girl' should give Padukone enough confidence to take them on.
