Sridevi speaks on 'competition' between Sara Ali Khan and Jhanvi Kapoor

The Mom (2017) actress said that, while competition can never be eliminated from this industry, it is unlikely to affect Sara and Jhanvi's friendship.

Hindi cinema is gearing up to welcome the gen-next amongst the star kids. Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi (19) is being launched by Dharma Productions, while Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara (24) is making her film debut with Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath.

Given that they’ve shot to the limelight through social media, there’s already a competitive buzz surrounding the two young girls. Seasoned actress Sridevi was asked about comparisons made between her daughter Jhanvi and Sara Ali Khan.

"Competition can never be eliminated from this industry. There is nothing wrong with it. It keeps you on your toes, making you work harder. But, the biggest challenge lies in bettering your craft, and faring better than you did the last time,” Sridevi told Mid-day.com.

Kedarnath is slated to be released on 21 December 2018. Meanwhile, Jhanvi’s maiden film, produced by Karan Johar, will go on floors from 1 December. There's also a buzz that the Dharma Productions' film could hit the screens a few weeks before Kedarnath.

It must be noted that Jhanvi and Sara are good friends and Sridevi feels that the so-called competition is unlikely to affect their friendship.

“You don't have to turn your face away from each other, just because you are pitted against one another at work. And surely, Jhanvi and Sara do not — they are hang-out pals and are often spotted chilling together at showbiz parties, late night outings and even travelling together,” Sridevi underlined.

Jhanvi Kapoor will be romancing Shahid Kapoor’s half-brother, Ishaan Khattar, in the film, that is said to be a remake of the Marathi superhit Sairat (2016).

Sara, though, has a bigger fish to fry, with her debut film clashing at the box office with Shah Rukh Khan’s untitled film with Aanand L Rai.
