Prabhu Deva to play lead in Charlie Chaplin sequel

The film will also mark the Tamil debut of actress Adah Sharma.

The 2002 film Charlie Chaplin, is set to have a sequel with Prabhu Deva in the lead. It may be recalled that the first part, directed by Sakthi Chidambaram, was an out-and-out comedy. The film was a huge success and was remade in several languages.

In Hindi, it was remade as No Entry (2005), featuring Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor. The film was also remade as Pellam Oorelithe (2003) in Telugu, and as Kalla Malla Sulla in Kannada, starring Ramesh Aravind. 

Sources close to the unit of the sequel confirm that the second part is being directed by Sakthi Chidambaram, and produced by Amma Creations. The film will have music by Amareesh, and cinematography by Soundararajan.

The film will have two heroines — Nikki Galrani and Adah Sharma and will mark the latter's Tamil debut.

A source close to the unit of the film said, "The story goes something like this. Prabhu Deva and Nikki Galrani are to get married in Tirupati. So, both their families set out to Tirupati to attend the wedding. What happens on the way and in Tirupati is what the film is all about. The film will be a full-fledged comedy with all the commercial elements required to make it an entertainer."

The unit has already begun work on the film and is at the moment shooting in Goa.
