Tanuja Chandra’s Qarib Qarib Singlle and Ratnaa Sinha’s Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana have failed to get a decent opening at the box office.
The Qarib Qarib Singlle, starring Irrfan Khan and Parvathy, made approximately Rs1.65-1.75 crore yesterday.
The targets the urban audience in the main metros of India. However, the audience hasn’t come in in good numbers. What works for the film is the positive word-of-mouth. This gives it some hope of getting a decent jump during the rest of the weekend today and tomorrow.
The film is reportedly made at a budget of Rs20 crore. Hence, to go even, it will not only need a positive weekend, but also a strong week.
Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana has fared even worse. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda, the film has managed to earn a meagre Rs60-65 lakh on the opening day. With not so favourable reviews and a low buzz, the film has a steep mountain to climb in the coming days.
The week also saw the release of other Hindi films like The House Next Door, Maheruh and Safe. These three films have been a complete washout at the box office and their opening day collections are too low to report.
