Raj Nidimoru, Krishna DK to produce, direct remake of Korean blockbuster A Hard Day


The film will be produced by Kross Pictures who have made Te3n (2016) and the upcoming Hindi remake of Korea's Miracle in Cell No 7 (2013).

Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, popularly known as Raj & DK, will helm the Hindi remake of the Korean blockbuster A Hard Day (2014) which competed in the Directors' Fortnight at 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Kross Pictures are producing the remake, their third film after Te3n (2016) starring Vidya Balan and Amitabh Bachchan. The Hindi remake of the Korean film Miracle in Cell No 7 (2013), a heart-warming story of a mentally challenged father and his young daughter who are reunited in prison, is alread under production.

A Hard Day, directed by Kim Seong-hun, stars Lee Sun-kyun and Cho Jin-woong. Lee plays a corrupt police detective who tries to cover a hit-and-run murder committed by himself. He is then blackmailed by a man who claims to have witnessed the crime.

The action thriller won three Grand Bell awards (South Korea's equivalent for the Academy Award) for best director and best screenplay for Kim Seong-hun and Best Lighting for Kim Gyeong-seok, and was nominated for another four awards including best film.

No cast has been announced as yet for the Hindi remake as the screenplay is being worked upon now. The film is expected to go into production in 2018.

The directors Raj & DK said in a statement, “A Hard Day is a fast-paced thriller with unrelenting suspense and a great dose of humour. It will be a very interesting challenge to adapt this film into Hindi. We hope to bring a unique spin and contribute to this well-made thriller. We are excited to start our collaboration with Kross Pictures."

Kross Pictures' CEO Thomas Kim spoke about their company's commitment to create concept driven content for the Indian market. In the future, they are also planning to remake more Korean hits, including Tunnel (2016) and Miss Granny (2014). He said, "Post TE3N and Miracle In Cell No. 7, A Hard Day will be an apt film to go with. Raj & DK are known for their unique and quirky style of filmmaking, and in partnering with them, we believe we have found the right sensibilities and passion to remake this as a big entertainer for 2018.”
