Super Singh motion poster: Diljit Dosanjh is quirky superhero in Punjabi film

Diljit Dosanjh is gearing up for his next Punjabi film Super Singh, in which the actor will play a superhero — a first in Punjabi cinema.

Dosanjh made a stellar debut in Hindi cinema with Udta Punjab last year. He was then  appreciated for his role in Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri (2017). His foray into Hindi cinema has not put a stop to Dosanjh's career in Punjabi cinema.

Super Singh is produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures and is set to be released on 16 June. The makers have released a poster and motion poster for Super Singh.

In reel or real life, Punjabis have not been averse to sporting bling, but Dosanjh's superhero look in the upcoming Punjabi film leaves you gaping. It is likely to drive the fashionistas crazy.

Dosanjh is seen sporting a peach turban, while he uses a printed bedsheet for a cape. It’s quite tough to describe Dosanjh’s colourful half-sleeved shirt. The rectangular designs on the shirt look like flags. Add to this, a blue eye mask. Is this a superhero or is Dosanjh’s character part of some fancy dress dress contest? Nevertheless, as Super Singh is said to be a comedy, the look goes with the premise of the film.

Punjabi celebrities are known to sport loud costumes, with Daler Mehndi being among the first to make a statement with flashy turbans, kurtas and pyjamas. Former cricketer and TV personality Navjot Singh Sidhu also donned fancy turbans that matched his tie and suit.  It’s safe to say that Dosanjh’s Super Singh look will give Daler Mehndi and Sidhu a run for their money.

Dosanjh’s co-actor Sonam Bajwa, too, does have some super powers. Unlike Dosanjh though, Bajwa sports a plain white t-shirt and makeshift cape. The duo have worked together earlier in films likes Sardaar Ji (2015), Sardaar Ji 2 (2016) and Punjab (2014).
