Confirmed! After Dangal, Fatima Sana Shaikh to act with Aamir in Thugs Of Hindostan

Earlier this year, there was buzz that Fatima Sana Shaikh, the star from Dangal (2016), was being considered opposite Aamir Khan in the keenly awaited Thugs Of Hindostan, which also stars megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

A picture of Shaikh, which had gone viral, was said to be a look test for the film. But there was no confirmation on the available details.

But now, it is official that Shaikh has been signed on by Yash Raj Films as the female lead in Thugs Of Hindostan, which is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. A statement from the production house has confirmed the same.

However, it is not yet revealed if she would play Khan's love interest. If this happens, it will be a rare case of an actress playing a daughter, like she did in Dangal, and love interest of the same actor in successive films.

In the picture that had gone viral, the actress was dressed up as a beautiful warrior. If the picture was indeed a part of her look test, we can assume that she could be playing a warrior in the period drama.

Acharya, who has previously directed Khan in the blockbuster Dhoom 3 (2013) believes that the female character is important in the storyline. “The role of the girl is pivotal to the film so it was crucial for us to find the perfect fit. Through a rigorous round of auditions and action workshops, we found in Fatima a truly dedicated actor and a gifted performer of action. We are very happy to have found the perfect girl for our film,” he said in an official statement.

The statement also mentions that Thugs Of Hindostan will go on floors on 1 June this year and will release during 2018 Diwali.
