Shah Rukh Khan was unhurt when a ceiling collapsed on Aanand L Rai's set in Film City, Mumbai, yesterday. The actor was shooting for Rai's upcoming film in which he plays a dwarf.
The Mumbai Mirror newspaper reported that a step ladder collapsed on the false ceiling erected on the set, bringing the whole thing down. A source was quoted as saying, "A prop ladder fell on the makeshift ceiling. The injured crew members were discharged immediately since the injuries were minor. Everybody heaved a sigh of relief that SRK was seated on another side of the set and was unharmed. Shooting has been stalled for two days."
Khan was seated on the opposite side of the place where the mishap happened.
The untitled film will see the superstar play a dwarf opposite Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. Both Kaif and Sharma are expected to join the cast next week after the portions with Khan are completed.
This is not the first close shave Shah Rukh has had. He suffered minor bruising when a door fell on him during the shooting of Farah Khan's Happy New Year (2014). He also underwent surgery after injuring himself on the sets of Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express (2013).
The list of injuries though stretches back to his early days when he fractured three ribs and his left ankle on the sets of Yash Chopra's Darr (1993). The most serious, and well-known injury, is that of his knee that has suffered continuous damage from stunts performed in Koyla (1997) to Ra.One (2011).
For now, Khan can breathe easy as the shooting has been suspended till next week. Security on the sets has also been beefed up to keep his look under wraps.
