Directed by James Erskine, the film now stands at an impressive total of almost Rs27.70 crore. Documentaries are usually not expected to do well at the ticket window. The fact that the film is based on Tendulkar’s life has managed to draw in the crowds. But its business on Monday, which was a working day, does come as a surprise.
Saket Chaudhary’s Hindi Medium, which was released a week before, also managed a decent number yesterday, which was its second Monday. The film starring Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar earned Rs1.75 crore. Its grand total so far is Rs35.85 crore. Till yesterday, its second week figures stand at an impressive Rs12.60 crore.
The same week had seen the release of Mohit Suri’s Half Girlfriend. The film is going through a low phase now. It managed only Rs75 lakh yesterday. The Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer has so far earned Rs51.50 crore.
Although quite a few films will be releasing this week, none of them is big enough to pose a threat to Sachin: A Billion Dreams or Hindi Medium.
