One of the most shocking murders that took place in Chennai, and the entire country, is now being made into a Tamil film. The film is already under production.
The film, titled Swathi Kolai Vazhakku, will be based on the sensational murder of IT professional Swathi, which occurred in June.
Swathi, an IT professional, was on her way to office when she was hacked to death in a crowded Nungambakkam railway station in broad daylight. The incident sent shockwaves across the nation.
Ramesh Selvan, who made films like Ulavuthurai (1998), Jananam (2004) and Vajram (2015), will be directing the film with actor Ajmal playing a cop investigating the crime.
A source close to the unit of the film said, "Ajmal plays the character of Shankar, an inspector investigating the crime. Shankar is posted at the Nungambakkam police station in the film. Aayira plays the role of Swathi in the film while a newcomer called Mano plays the suspect Ramkumar."
Director RP Ravi, who has made films like Sillunnu Oru Sandhippu (2013), has penned the dialogues for this film. The film will also see cinematography by Jones Anand.
The source claims that the story of the film will not be exaggerated in any way for sensationalism and that it will mirror reality.
