The first look posters of Rajinikanth's upcoming gangster flick with Pa Ranjith, Kaala Karikaalan, as expected, created a lot of excitement among fans when they were released a few days ago.
One picture in which Rajinikanth is seated, with a Thar Jeep as his throne, created quite a sensation.
So much so that the executive chairman of the Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra, has been impressed as well. He expressed an interest in procuring the Thar jeep that the superstar is seated on in the first look poster of the film.
Anand Mahindra tweeted, "When the legend @superstarrajini uses a car as a throne, it becomes a legend...#Thar. Whoever knows the whereabouts of the Thar used for this shoot, please let us know. I'd like to acquire it for our company auto museum."
Although many cheered the first look, few have understood the deeper significance of the poster. A closer look at the picture shows that the Thar that Rajini is sitting on bears the registration number MH O1 BR 1956.
Director Ranjith, who believes deeply in the cause of upliftment of Dalits, is known to be a keen admirer of Dr. B R Ambedkar. Industry sources point out that the registration number of the jeep is actually the year in which the great leader, B R Ambedkar, passed away.
Kaala Karikaalan stars Rajinikanth, Huma Qureshi, and Nana Patekar in pivotal roles. The film is expected to be ready for release by January 2018.
