Shraddha Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor’s Half Girlfriend made the right noises with the romantic song, ‘Phir Bhi Tumko Chahunga,’ which was released some weeks back. ‘Thodi Der,’ the recently-released song is a soothing romantic number.
The album has now jumped on to the rap mode with ‘Mere Dil Mein.’ It looks like a promotional video, which generally plays during the end credits of the film. It’s an out-and-out rap number with hip-hop dance steps.
Although it is foot-tapping, it remains an ordinary rap song with typically rhyming lyrics. For example, ‘Na hogi story yeh end, kare rules ko bend, Honge Twitter pe trend, banja Meri Half Girlfriend.’ The dialogues which are inserted in between do tickle your funny bone.
Shraddha and Arjun aren’t playing their usual characters in the song. They appear like a carefree boy and girl dancing around on the streets of New York. You can’t help but feel that they try too hard to appear cool.
Singers Veronica Mehta and Yash Narvekar have lived up to the need in this genre of song. The same can be said about the composer, Rishi Rich.
Directed by Mohit Suri, Half Girlfriend is all set to release on 19 May.
