Meri Pyaari Bindu song: Khol De Baahein is a magical song that leaves you with a smile

The latest track from Ayushmann Khurrana-Parineeti Chopra starrer has a natural Bengali sweetness accentuated by Monali Thakur's voice.

Meri Pyaari Bindu's soundtrack is proving to be a delectable surprise. The latest song from Akshay Roy's film takes off from the mellow sweetness that the film's trailer is about. While the other tracks paid tribute to the disco generation through the soundtracks, Khol De Baahein, is a pleasant surprise that is as soothing as it is memorable.

The song traces Bindu's passion for singing, and how it becomes a part of Abhi's life as well. Parineeti Chopra looks the part as the freewheeling, happy go lucky Bindu whose singing embraces the fun side of her personality. Ayushmann Khurrana plays the adorable friend who keeps encouraging her to follow her dreams, while she helps him through his struggles. It is this friendship that emerges as the crux of the song.

The song itself is a wonderful earworm worth every minute. Sung by Monali Thakur, and composed astutely by Sachin-Jigar, the song is slow, breezy and enjoyable. The minimal accompaniments in the song serve to enhance the quality of Thakur's voice. The song also includes a couple of Bengali verses by Rana Mazumder, in addition to Kausar Munir's philosophical lines. The easy quality of the song makes it an immensely hummable number with a sweet aftertaste.

Meri Pyaari Bindu is directed by Akshay Roy, and stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra in the lead. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on 12 May.
