Finally, fans of actor Kamal Haasan, who have been waiting a long time for the release of Vishwaroopam 2, have something to celebrate with the release of the first look poster of the sequel on 2 May.
It may be recalled that Vishwaroopam is an Indian spy thriller in which Kamal Haasan plays a RAW agent called Vishwanath alias Major Wisam Ahmad Kashmiri. The film's plot revolves around the fight against terror in general and the fight against the Al Qaeda in particular.
Kamal Haasan's decision to release the first look of Vishwaroopam 2 on the evening of 2 May is quite significant. It was on this day in May 2011 that Osama Bin Laden was killed by American special forces in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
Haasan took to Twitter to release the first look poster of the film. He tweeted, "With love (for) my country and it's people."

The poster features Haasan, visibly injured, standing with the Indian national flag fluttering across his heart. Interestingly, the title of Vishwaroopam 2 is printed in the Persian script, keeping with the 'unity in diversity' theme of the film. Vishwaroopam 2 is likely to see Haasan's character take his fight against terrorism to the international stage.
The film also stars Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar, and Andrea Jeremiah in pivotal roles. Waheeda Rehman has reportedly been cast as Haasan's mother in the film.
The release of Vishwaroopam 2, which was completed a long time ago, was delayed because of financial problems that producer Aascar Ravichandran faced.
After having waited endlessly for Ravichandran to release the film, and realising that it wasn't going to happen any time soon, Haasan has taken over the responsibilty of releasing the film himself.
Despite this development, the release date of the film continues to be a mystery. Even the poster only mentions 'Targeting 2017 release', without mentioning the date.
Vishwaroopam 2 was shot simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi, and has been dubbed in Telugu. The film will release in three languages simultaneously.
