Actor Ranveer Singh was injured earlier in the week while shooting Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati in Mumbai. The actor got badly hit on the head while shooting the climax of the film, which also stars Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.

As per reports, Ranveer was so involved in the scene that he didn’t realize the seriousness of the injury. A source from the sets told IANS, “Ranveer hurt himself on the head while shooting for the film during a particular take but he was so engrossed in the performance that he did not realise it till cut was called. It was only after he started bleeding profusely from the head after 'cut' was called, did everyone realise that he was hurt badly.”

Despite the serious injury, the Bajirao Mastani actor returned to the sets to complete the shoot. “Ranveer received initial first aid on the set and was rushed immediately to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment. He completed the basic treatment and returned to the film's set to complete his portions of the shoot. Rather than let his injury slow him down or impact the shoot, Ranveer completed the day's work. He requires stitches on the head,” added the source.

The cast and crew of Padmavati has gone through numerous obstacles this year. In January, Bhansali was attacked by goons from Rajput Karni Sena as they felt the film portrays Queen Padmavati in poor light. Later on, in March, the sets of the film were set on fire in Kolhapur by unknown persons. This caused monetary loss to the producers while a horse was badly injured.

Despite the injury, Ranveer has gone onto a pre-planned solo trip to the United Kingdom. As per a report in a daily, he would be catching some of the biggest sporting events over there, including the UEFA Champions League final between Juventus and Real Madrid and India's keenly awaited Champions Trophy cricket match against Pakistan.

Padmavati is due to be released on 17 November 2017.
