Phullu song: 'Bhunoor Bhunoor' is a soft, mellow number that portrays love in the small town

The first song from this social drama has a touch of softness missing in the loud world of music today.

Sharib Hashmi's turn as the crusader for women's health in Phullu looks to be stealing the march on Akshay Kumar's similar turn in Padman. The makers of Phullu released the first song from the film, 'Bhunoor Bhunoor', today.

Sung in the voices of Arun Singh and Sonika Sharma, the song is a beautiful, mellow ballad that is soothing to the ears. The minimalistic music, and the lyrics written in the dialect add to the authenticity of the film.

Featured on Hashmi and Jyotii Sethi, the song focusses on the love of the newly married couple residing in a small town in rural Uttar Pradesh. An idea that has already been featured through films like Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017), it finds a new dimension in this song. The sights of a town fair, the playful teasing, and their fears make for an interesting background for the song.

Sharib Hashmi: Wanted to become an actor after growing up, but I haven’t grown up

Phullu is based on the story of a village comedian who takes it upon himself to help the women in his village take care of their health.

Directed by Abhishek Saxena, Phullu is set to be released on 16 June.
