After a positive response to its trailer, the makers of Punjabi superhero film Super Singh, have released a romantic number 'Hawa Vich', a duet crooned by actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh and Sunidhi Chauhan. Dosanjh also plays the lead role in the film. Non-Punjabi speaking audiences needn't worry about the lyrics as they are simple and the pleasant music makes it appealing to a wider audience.
Music speaks no language. If you like what you hear, then the language is immaterial. That is where lyricist Ranbir Singh deserves credit for penning a simple poem, wherein Super Singh has swept his girl off her feet, quite literally.
The airborne romance of our superhero Super Singh (Dosanjh) and his lady love (Sonam Bajwa) is perfectly justified. The scenes remind you of Tobey Maguire’s romantic scene from the Hollywood Spiderman franchise. What’s the point of having superhuman powers if you can’t defy gravity? Some of the visuals are pretty melodramatic.
The simple lyrics are set to a pleasant, romantic tune, scored by noted Punjabi film music director Jatinder Shah. Even if you don’t get the lyrics, Shah’s delightful music is enough to warm your hearts.
Sunidhi Chauhan is no stranger to Punjabi films, having crooned many Punjabi songs since 2004. Her performance is a big thumbs up in 'Hawa Vich'. Dosanjh is a gifted actor and singer, bringing a quality to soft romantic numbers in the latter role.
'Hawa Vich' clicks because of the lead pair. Since Dosanjh's Hindi film debut in Udta Punjab (2016), he's become a popular name in Bollywood too.
Produced by Ekta Kapoor, Super Singh is to be released on 16 June.
