Seasoned actor and Member of Parliament Paresh Rawal triggered a controversy on Twitter with his comments on Kashmir by dragging noted author Arundhati Roy into it.
Roy, best known for her book God of Small Things (1997), has in the past been critical of the Indian Army’s handling of affairs in the troubled state of Kashmir.
Last night, Rawal created a controversy when he tweeted the following:
Instead of tying stone pelter on the army jeep tie Arundhati Roy !

Kashmir has been on the boil ever since Burhan Wani, a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was killed by the Indian Army in July 2016. Unrest in the Kashmir Valley is often due to protesters resorting to stone pelting.
The context of Rawal’s tweet goes back to April this year when leader of opposition Omar Abdullah posted a video of a alleged stone pelter being tied to a jeep by the Indian Army, hoping to stop other stone pelters from attacking them.
Here's the video as well. A warning can be heard saying stone pelters will meet this fate. This requires an urgent inquiry & follow up NOW!! pic.twitter.com/qj1rnCVazn

This user slammed the actor for his violent words.
@SirPareshRawal Am deeply moved by your empathy that brings every character to life in movies. But I'm shocked by your ability to be so violent with words!

While he didn’t comment on the issue at hand, columnist Aseem Chhabra mocked Rawal in his inimitable style
@SirPareshRawal BTW, I know Paresh Rawal was awarded the Padma Shri, but was he also knighted by the Queen of England? He adds Sir to his name on Twitter.
