Tiger Shroff gets all serious in Rambo, Stallone hopes 'they don't wreck it'

There are a few roles that seem impossible for any other actor to play. Rambo is one of them. Sylvester Stallone was elevated to cult status after he immortalised the role of the vagrant super soldier taking on the collapsed system in the 1982 film. Now, Tiger Shroff is set to take up the challenge in the official Indian remake.

The first poster of the film has Shroff looking all muscle and deadly serious as the commando at war. The poster, and news of the film, were revealed at the ongoing Cannes festival in France. The actor is depicted in the iconic pose, holding a firing machine gun. Shroff is playing the last surviving member of an elite unit of the Indan Armed Forces who returns home after the war, only to find it suffering as a consequence of the war.

Rambo will be directed by Siddharth Anand, who last directed the Hrithik Roshan-Katrina Kaif starrer, Bang Bang (2014). Shroff himself seems quite excited about being cast in the role. The actor tweeted 'Grew up on this character, humbled and blessed to step into his shoes years later.'

Rambo: First Blood was based on David Morrell's novel, First Blood, telling the story of a Vietnam veteran struggling to adjust to civilian life after the war. Sylvester Stallone also tweeted out his wishes to the makers of the Indian film saying 'hope they don't wreck it.'

The message immediately got a response from Tiger Shroff, who wrote back saying 'Humbled and blessed to be walking the road u lay down 🙏❤ u r irreplaceable and I hope I don't let you down sir'

Tiger Shroff has been praised for his martial arts skill, and action films. However, Rambo is quite the challenge to play. Only time will tell how Shroff shapes up.

Rambo is scheduled to release in 2018.
