Honey Trehan, who turned producer with Konkona Sensharma's A Death In The Gunj, revealed that his first directorial venture will have Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead.
Speaking exclusively to Cinestaan.com, Trehan said, "It's too early (for hints). We will start shooting by December-January. I am shooting with Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan."
Khan and Padukone last came together for the 2016 hit, Piku, directed by Shoojit Sircar.
The film will reportedly be based on one of the chapters from author S Hussain Zaidi's book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. Reports suggest that Padukone will be essaying the character of Rahima Khan aka Sapna Didi.
Trehan also said that the film will be produced by longtime friend, Vishal Bhardwaj. He said, "My film will be produced by Vishal Bhardwaj."
In a talk with tabloid Mumbai Mirror, Bhardwaj had said, "Honey has been a part of my life since before I made my first film. Launching him as a director after Abhishek Chaubey gives me deep joy. He will make a fine director. Deepika has been asking me to write a script for her for a long time. She has heard this script and loved it. We are in an advanced stage of discussion with her."
Abhishek Chaubey on turning producer: We are a film industry, not a film genre
Trehan revealed that he is currently working on the drafts of the script, and the film will only go on the floors by December.
"We are reading a couple of scripts, and we have liked a few. But once our shooting gets over, then we will make those films. We personally want to be involved when we are producing a film for any other director," he added.
