In Baahubali: The Beginning, the first film in the saga, Prabhas’s character makes a big jump from one mountain to another. The jump in the second movie, Baahubali: The Conclusion, is bigger. The jump has been made by the film’s box-office collections.
As per latest reports, the film’s worldwide collections now stand at a mammoth Rs1,500 crore. Baahubali has become the first Indian film to reach this score. Director SS Rajamouli’s film has broken the record set by Dangal, which has raked in Rs1,200 crore plus at the box office worldwide.
The Aamir Khan-starrer was largely helped by the film’s dream run in China. The film was released across the border this month and has taken the Chinese box office by storm. The third name in the list of highest worldwide collections by an Indian film is another Aamir Khan film, PK (2014). The Rajkumar Hirani-directed PK made Rs792 crore approximately.
The makers of Baahubali will be releasing the film in China. A publication quoted producer Shobu Yarlagadda saying, “We are first dubbing the film in Chinese. After studying the Chinese market and seeing the incredible number of theatres across China, we have decided to do a full-scale dubbed version of Baahubali 2. This will be followed by a dubbed Japanese version. Then there would be Korean and Taiwanese versions.”
It will be interesting to see whether the Prabhas-starrer breaks Dangal’s record in China.
