Huma Qureshi looks to be on her way to play the lead opposite Rajinikanth. She will reportedly be a part of the superstar's upcoming film with director Pa Ranjith. The film, tentatively titled Production No 12/Thalaivar 61, will go on the floors on 28 May.
Sources confirm that actress Huma Qureshi has been roped in to play the female lead in the film set in Mumbai.
The Gangs of Wasseypur actress was chosen after talks between the makers of the film and Vidya Balan did not prove successful. With Vidya Balan opting out, Huma has been roped in.
The film, media reports claim, will be a gangster flick. Unsubstantiated media reports had claimed that the film was based on the life of Haji Mastan Mirza.

In fact, after reading these reports, Sundar Shaekhar, the foster son of Haji Mastan Mirza sent a notice to actor Rajinikanth, stating that he would be forced to initiate legal proceedings against the actor, should he make a film that portrayed his godfather as a smuggler and underworld don.
However, the Wunderbar team has clarified that the story of their film has nothing to do with the life of Haji Mastan Mirza.
Qureshi will be seen in the upcoming horror film by Bejoy Nambiar, Dobaara.
