'Hum Hain Bank Chor' song: Riteish Deshmukh spoofs Aamir Khan’s ‘Bande Hain Hum Uske’ poem

The first trailer of Bumpy’s Bank Chor started off by taking a dig at Yash Raj Films’ own Dhoom series. The first song of the film, which is the title track ‘Hum Hain Bank Chor’ takes the joke further. The song itself is based on Dhoom 3’s (2013) famous poem, which was recited by Aamir Khan’s character and his twin brother.

The original poem goes, ‘Bande Hain Hum Uske, Humpe Kiska Zor’ while the lyrics of the Bank Chor song are, ‘Hum Hain Bank Chor, Hum Pe Kiska Zor.’ But contrary to the poem, 'Hum Hai Bank Chor' is a fun-filled number.

The song seems like a theme track which speaks about the film and its characters. It is difficult to recognise Kailash Kher’s voice as he has barely ventured into singing peppy songs. The song also has a rap element.

Although it is quite catchy, the song is not as foot-tapping as it aims to be. The opening line is used repetitively.

But what works are the short, funny scenes from the film that are included in the visualisation. The best one is the confusion between Ganpati Bappa and Bappi Lahiri. The song features the three thieves — Riteish Deshmukh, Vikram Thapa and Bhuvan Arora and the cop, Vivek Anand Oberoi. The focus is solely on Deshmukh though. Rhea Chakraborty also makes a brief appearance.

Produced by Y-Films, which is the youth arm of Yash Raj Films, Bank Chor will be released on 16 June.
