While the soundtrack for Raabta has been intensely peppy and uplifting, the storyline from the trailer has been one of conflict and complications. The song 'Lambiyaan Si Judaiyaan' seems to fit in with this very theme of complicated relationships and distances.
Sung by Arijit Singh, and credited to Pritam's Jam 8 band, the song contains a touch of melancholy and pain. The song focusses on a pivotal moment in the relationship between the characters of Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon in the film. Separation, pain, and pangs of jealousy form the central theme of the song. The song also hints at the complexity of the love story set in two different time periods.
It has almost become a tradition to offer Singh a sad song to sing in every film, but the singer does deliver, yet again. His vocals are unmatched, and Pritam aka Jam 8's composition offers quite an emotional undertone to the entire song. However, there is a lingering sense of familiarity through the composition which is a slight let down. Amitabh Bhattacharya's lyrics are quite emotional too.
Incidentally, this is the first video to release with the credits to Pritam's band, Jam 8. The composer recently announced his split with the makers of the film, after they requested him to add 'an outside song' to the album. However, the composer had assured that he would work with his own band, Jam 8 to complete the rest of the songs.
