Aamir Khan’s Dangal (2016) continues to have an unprecedented run at the China box office. The film had a very good first weekend as it earned $11 million approximately. The second weekend collections have come as a huge surprise.
The number has almost tripled with the Nitesh Tiwari directed film minted $32.50 million approximately, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. The grand total of the film in China in 10 days now stands at a staggering $59.70 million, which is around Rs382 crore.
Dangal’s lifetime business in India amounted to Rs374.50 crore. Its lifetime total in China has thus eclipsed its Indian earnings.
By scoring such an enormous number, Dangal’s worldwide box office total are now closing in on the worldwide collections of S S Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017). The Aamir Khan starrer has earned Rs1100 crore as on Saturday 14 May, while Rajamouli's film has notched up Rs1294 crore in the same period. The continuing positive run of the Hindi version of Baahubali : The Conclusion might see the number increase further.
China had a one child restriction policy till 2015. So, according to BoxOfficeIndia.com, the story of Dangal, of a girl child taking the family name forward has found a deep connect with the Chinese audience. It also explains how Nitesh Tiwari's film has managed to outdo its India earnings so easily.
