The actor is reportedly in the running to play a medical surgeon in Vipul Shah's next directorial.

Vipul Shah has not been involved in film direction since Action Replayy (2010). The director has been involved in several productions including Holiday (2014), Force (2011) and Force 2 (2016), the Commando films (2013/2017) among others. But Vipul Shah is getting ready to return to the director's chair, and has even set sights on his main lead, Saif Ali Khan.

In a quote to tabloid Mumbai Mirror, Vipul Shah suggested that he is working on a project about the growing market of drug testing on humans in India. The report quoted Vipul Shah saying, "The project kept getting delayed but it’s a story waiting to be told."

The project is being researched and written by Vipul Shah regulars, Suresh Nair and Ritesh Shah. The Action Replayy director added, "The facts are real. It’s the story of a doctor who stumbles on this conspiracy which is a work of fiction."

The director is reportedly interested in two actors for the role, Akshay Kumar and Khan. However, Vipul Shah was not too sure about Akshay accepting the project since 'he's one of the busiest actors around today and given his prior commitments I think other films will kick off first." Akshay is currently working on Padman, and has films like Reema Kagti's Gold, and the biopic on Gulshan Kumar, Mogul, to start on.

Meanwhile, the report quoted that Khan is currently involved in reading the script, although nothing has been confirmed yet. If he does agree, this will be the third very different profession Khan will be stepping into. He is already playing a chef in the remake of the Hollywood hit of the same name, and a businessman in Baazaar. Khan also has Akshat Varma's Kaalakaandi lined up for the coming year.

As for the film, Vipul Shah seems quite secretive, but is quoted saying that the film will be a 'unique, high concept drama'.
