The makers of Sachin: A Billion Dreams launched the 'Sachin Sachin' anthem last evening in the presence of the man himself. While the 'Sachin Sachin' chant will give goosebumps to his legion of fans around the globe, the song loses a bit of sheen with a rap portion in the antara. Astonishingly, music director AR Rahman revealed at the song launch that 'Sachin Sachin' anthem was initially a rap song.
“We made 14 versions of the song and initially it was a rap with 'Sachin Sachin' chant (of his fans) which I liked a lot. But then we changed it musically, tried to encapsulate the energy, emotions of his journey and fans, and finally we finished the song last week,” said Rahman at the event.
When asked if he gave the Mozart of Madras any inputs to make the song better, Tendulkar replied, “What can you say standing in front of Mount Everest? He is the ultimate, right?"
Also present at the event was singer Sukwinder Singh, director James Erskine, and producer Ravi Bhagchandka. Singh performed the song on stage.
Sachin: A Billion Dreams is a biographical film on former Indian cricketing great Tendulkar. The film will be released on 26 May.
