Even as the industry prepares for big releases, there are a number of small films that are finding their way to the theatres. Blue Mountains, directed by Suman Ganguli, is one such film. The first trailer of the film offers a glimpse into Ganguli's tale of youthful adventure, its failure, and eventual success. Having won the Best Feature Film at the 19th International Children's Film Festival of India, Blue Mountains is set for a theatrical release on 7 April.
The film appears to be the story of a young boy, played by Yatharth Ratnum, who dreams of becoming a singer. Ranvir Shorey plays the hesitant father who fears for his son's career, while Gracy Singh (returning to the screen after a long time) plays the doting mother to the T. In order to achieve his dream, Ratnum's character participates in a reality singing competition, only to fail. It takes the support of his parents and friends to get the boy back on his feet and find success again.
The trailer looks fresh, with a diverse cast of children adding to its charm. The breezy music adds to the experience of the trailer. From the first look, Blue Mountains has the same touch of failure and redemption that are a common theme among children's films across the world. The music and the sight of cycles give it a Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander feel.
