Sonakshi Sinha is stepping into the shoes of a journalist, sending a wave of excitement in the community. After playing a couple of action-packed roles in films likes Akira (2016) and Force 2 (2016), Sinha is playing a journalist in Noor, which is based on the book Karachi, You're Killing Me by Pakistani writer-journalist Saba Imtiaz.
Director Sunhil Sippy and the makers have played it safe by setting the film in Mumbai and not Karachi. Sippy has churned out a very impressive trailer giving much of the story away. Noor is an entertainment journalist, tired of her beat, wanting to break out from her mechanical life.
Noor does not hesitate to call herself a 'joker' over a journalist. The stumbling and tripping Noor is even sent to interview Sunny Leone on her birthday despite her reservations. When she decides to let the rebel in her take over, it backfires and her editor reprimands her.
This is when Noor finds her purpose of chasing a serious story.
Sippy, who had earlier directed a film called Snip! (2000), returns with a more meaningful and realistic subject. As the trailer reveals, Sinha dresses up as an ordinary journalist and deals with the same issues as most other girls — relationships, weight, job and life in general.
The makers have recreated the 'Gulabi Aankhen' track from Rajesh Khanna-starrer The Train (1970). The original track was penned by Anand Bakshi and crooned by Mohammad Rafi.
The trailer has set the ball rolling for Sinha, who will hope that the film is equally appealing. Noor is set to be released on 21 April.
