Gate-crashed Shah Rukh's party once: Kapil Sharma confesses on Koffee with Karan

The TV star admits that he wanted to show Khan's bungalow to his cousin from the UK, but accidentally ended up at the Dilwale bash.

Kapil Sharma’s episode with Karan Johar on Koffee With Karan was promoted as being the funniest, but the reality is far from that. The only saving grace of the episode aired last night, was when Sharma admitted to having gate-crashed a party at Shah Rukh Khan's house once.

The incident took place in 2015 after the release of Khan’s film Dilwale. Sharma had taken out his cousin from the United Kingdom for a late-night drive when she expressed a desire to see King Khan’s bungalow, Mannat in Bandra.

Sharma only intended to show his cousin Khan's residence, but seeing the Mannat gate open, the comedian drove in.

"We had no inkling that there was a party in his house. The party was for Dilwale. We were dressed very casually though, I thought I'll drive my way out from the other gate, but Gauri Khan spotted us and asked us to come over. She must have presumed that SRK must have invited us. We went inside, SRK was dancing. The moment he saw us, he greeted us very warmly. I apologised to him 10 times. He told me to stop as I needn’t tell the whole world that we weren’t invited. I don’t know why but I feel a certain kind of connect with him. He’s so humble, and makes you feel warm every time," Sharma said on Koffee With Karan.

Throughout the show, Sharma looked uncomfortable while answering quirky questions by Johar. Sharma looked visibly upset when Johar asked him if he kept tweeting till 4 am and if it left him time for sex. Sharma paused for a few seconds, toeing the cliched defensive line that he’s so busy with work that he doesn’t have time for any other activity. This answer, though, came after a break.

The episode was meandering, before Sharma opened up a bit in the rapid-fire round. Between Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone, Johar asked Sharma who he would kill, hook up with or marry. A known Padukone fan, he didn't hesitate to say that he'd marry Padukone, but picked Priyanka Chopra as the one he would kill.

When quizzed why Sharma would want to kill Chopra, he said, "I'd like to kill Priyanka for she’s now romancing Hollywood heroes. Hum kya mar gaye thay? (Did we Indians die?) Because I have no option left, the third one (hook-up) has to be with Katrina," he said.

Later, when asked if there’s one person that he wouldn’t like to have as a co-host, Sharma picked AR Rahman as the reticent music director-singer barely speaks.

At best, this episode could be described as a very basic interview by a basic journalist.

While one can be critical of the episode, if it boosts the ratings, both Sharma and Johar will have the last laugh.
