Rekha was not married to Sanjay Dutt: Biographer puts an end to online rumour mongering

The internet is a place where rumours mutate into facts at amazing speeds. Late on Sunday, a rumour broke through the cyberspace about a hidden marriage between Rekha and Sanjay Dutt. While no one is sure about where the story first originated, many quoted the biography, Rekha — The Untold Story by Yasser Usman, as the reference. The writer slammed all these rumours suggesting that it was 'wrong'. 

Speaking to a daily, Usman said, "This is wrong. Nothing of this sort has been mentioned in my book. People don’t read properly." 

Rekha — The Untold Story, which was released last year, included some revelatory incidents. However, Usman emphasised that the current rumour on the internet is a factually incorrect one. He said, "Rekha and Sanjay Dutt were working in a film together, probably Zameen Aasman (1984). The rumours of their affair surfaced at that time. In fact, some went on to say that they got married. These rumours became so strong that Sanjay Dutt had to deny the allegations in a magazine. It was an official denial." 

In the book, the incident is narrated as a passing anecdote in reference to the rumours that surrounded the actress' life. Usman also added, "There wasn’t any marriage. This became big only because Dutt had to deny it officially."

The curiosity around the enigma known as Rekha refuses to die down, even when she is no longer active in the industry.
